Vasseur reveals area where Ferrari ‘failed massively’ in Canada
Ferrari team boss Fred Vasseur has expressed significant disappointment with the Scuderia's performance in Canada, stating the team "failed massively" despite both drivers finishing in the points. Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton secured fifth and sixth respectively, benefiting from Lando Norris's late retirement, but Ferrari clearly lagged behind Mercedes, Red Bull, and McLaren in pace.
Vasseur attributed the struggles to a series of collective mistakes rather than solely car performance. Leclerc's FP1 crash cost him significant track time, and questionable tyre strategy in qualifying, favoring the C6 soft over mediums used effectively by rivals, further compounded issues. Race day saw Leclerc questioning a two-stop strategy and Hamilton sustaining floor damage from hitting an animal. Vasseur emphasized that in the tight 2025 season, flawless execution throughout the weekend is paramount, often outweighing car upgrades. He cited Mercedes' turnaround from previous weekends as a prime example of effective preparation. Ferrari, now third in the Constructors' Championship, trails Mercedes by 16 points, highlighting the urgency for operational improvements.
