Watch Norris and Piastri come to blows in Canadian GP
The Canadian Grand Prix saw a dramatic conclusion to the season-long intra-team rivalry between McLaren drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, culminating in a race-ending collision for Norris.
As George Russell led the charge, the front-runners were tightly packed, with Piastri strategically using DRS behind Kimi Antonelli to fend off Norris's advances for fourth position. Despite Piastri's defensive efforts, Norris managed to pull alongside him on Lap 67, setting the stage for an overtaking maneuver coming out of the hairpin. Attempting to seize an opportunity on the narrow left side of Piastri's car as they hurtled onto the start-finish straight, Norris unfortunately made contact with the rear of his teammate's car. This collision propelled Norris into the wall, causing irreparable damage that forced his immediate retirement from the race.
Norris promptly confirmed over the radio that he was unharmed and took full responsibility for the incident. This unfortunate event has allowed Piastri to further solidify his lead over Norris in the Drivers' Standings, adding another chapter to their intense internal battle.
