Chambers conquers Montreal Qualifying to take pole
Chloe Chambers, the Red Bull Ford driver, has significantly bolstered her title aspirations in Montreal, securing her third consecutive F1 ACADEMY pole position. This impressive feat came after a fierce back-and-forth battle at the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve.
Chambers faced strong competition from her teammate Alisha Palmowski and fended off Doriane Pin to lock out the front row for Campos Racing in Race 3. Tommy Hilfiger’s Alba Larsen briefly held provisional pole before Chambers and Palmowski exchanged fastest laps, with Chambers ultimately pulling five tenths clear with a blistering 1m 38.125s lap.
Pin, opting for a late run, slotted into second but Palmowski reclaimed her front-row spot. McLaren’s Ella Lloyd secured a strong fourth, while championship leader Maya Weug faced a disastrous day, qualifying a disappointing 15th after electrical issues plagued her practice session. Chambers now eyes glory in the first of three races, starting from pole on Saturday.
