Stroll to return to action for Canadian Grand Prix
Aston Martin has confirmed that Canadian driver Lance Stroll will return to the cockpit for his home Grand Prix in Montreal, less than two weeks after withdrawing from the Spanish Grand Prix due to hand and wrist pain. Stroll, who underwent a medical procedure to address the discomfort, is now feeling well and has even completed practice laps at Paul Ricard to prepare for the upcoming race.
Stroll's previous withdrawal in Spain came after qualifying, with the team explaining that the pain was related to a procedure he had in 2023 following a cycling accident that caused fractures and a broken toe. Despite the quick turnaround, Aston Martin's Chief Trackside Officer, Mike Krack, had always maintained that Stroll's participation in his home race was 'Plan A'. Stroll himself expressed excitement to race in front of the Montreal crowd, thanking fans for their support. Reserve drivers Felipe Drugovich and Stoffel Vandoorne, who are set to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans this weekend, were on standby as 'Plan B' if Stroll was unable to race.
