Growing up with Leclerc, Champions League dreams and Alesi’s advice – Getting to know the real Pierre Gasly
Alpine driver Pierre Gasly offered a candid glimpse into his life and career in a recent 'Getting to Know' interview. Describing himself as competitive, genuine, and driven by victory, Gasly reminisced about his first go-kart experience at age six, which ignited his passion for F1's speed and adrenaline. He humorously recalled passing his driving test on his 18th birthday with ease, thanks to a lenient examiner who recognized him as a racer.
Gasly highlighted his deep bond with Charles Leclerc, a friendship forged since their karting days, while affectionately calling Yuki Tsunoda his "little brother." When asked about dream dinner guests, he named F1 legends James Hunt, Ayrton Senna, and Juan Manuel Fangio. For a desert island, he playfully suggested Kimi Raikkonen for quietude, Leclerc for entertainment, or Tsunoda for his cooking skills.
Fluent in multiple languages, Gasly also shared his admiration for the Michael Jordan documentary 'The Last Dance' and reflected on the valuable advice from Jean Alesi: to focus on present steps rather than just the distant goal. His proudest moment remains his 2020 Monza victory, and his ultimate ambition is clear: to be an F1 World Champion within five years.
