F3: Domingues becomes first Portuguese F3 winner with Barcelona Sprint victory
Ivan Domingues secured his maiden FIA Formula 3 victory in a chaotic Barcelona Sprint Race, marking a historic win as the first Portuguese driver to achieve this feat in the Championship.
The race commenced with a dramatic multi-car collision at Turn 2 involving polesitter Roman Bilinski, Martinius Stenshorne, and Tim Tramnitz, effectively ending their races early. Championship leader Rafael Câmara also retired on the opening lap after an incident with Tuukka Taponen.
Following an early Safety Car period, Domingues expertly managed the lead, fending off TRIDENT's Noah Stromsted. Stromsted, a Mercedes Junior Team driver, appeared poised to challenge for the win but was forced to retire due to an issue with just a few laps remaining. This allowed Domingues to comfortably clinch his first F3 victory, with teammate Santiago Ramos completing a Van Amersfoort Racing 1-2, having impressively climbed from eighth on the grid. Nikola Tsolov secured third for Campos Racing, moving up to second in the Drivers' Championship, capping a strong day for Van Amersfoort Racing.
