Newey 'determined not to dilute' focus with Team Principal role

Adrian Newey will assume the role of Team Principal at Aston Martin in 2026, alongside his primary focus on car design and development. The legendary designer, who joined Aston Martin earlier this year from Red Bull, will also guide the technical team and trackside operations. Despite the new title, Newey emphasized his commitment to the core task of developing the 2026 Formula 1 car, stating he's "determined not to dilute that." He takes over from Andy Cowell, who shifts to Chief Strategy Officer, focusing on optimizing partnerships with Honda, Aramco, and Valvoline. This restructuring ensures Newey's expertise remains central to car innovation while Cowell leverages his skills for strategic alliances.
