Antonelli insists Norris ‘deserved to win’ Spanish GP

Kimi Antonelli claimed victory at the Spanish Grand Prix in a bittersweet race, acknowledging that Lando Norris was the driver who deserved to win. Norris, who started from pole position and dominated the early stages, saw his race compromised by an ill-timed Virtual Safety Car triggered by Lance Stroll’s retirement. While Mercedes capitalized on the incident for a cheap pit stop, Norris was forced to pit after the track went green, dropping him out of contention for the lead. Despite the victory, Antonelli expressed sympathy for his rival, noting that the race management was incredibly challenging. Antonelli managed to hold off a charging Max Verstappen to secure his eighth win of the season, extending his championship lead over teammate George Russell to 81 points. With nine races remaining, the 20-year-old remains focused on a race-by-race approach, dismissing talk of becoming the sport's youngest-ever World Champion as he aims to maintain his current momentum until the end of the year.
