Stroll hit with five-place grid penalty in Austin
Lance Stroll has been handed a five-place grid penalty for Sunday's United States Grand Prix following an incident during Saturday's Sprint race. The Aston Martin driver collided with Esteban Ocon's Haas while attempting an overtake into Turn 1 during the final stages of the 100-kilometer dash. Stroll locked up, hitting Ocon and forcing the Haas driver out of the race. Although Stroll initially tried to continue, damage to his AMR25 eventually led to his retirement. Stewards investigated the collision after the Sprint, resulting in the grid drop and two penalty points for Stroll, bringing his total over the last 12 months to seven.
