'We are where we should be' – Norris on Singapore Qualifying

McLaren drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri struggled during qualifying for the Singapore Grand Prix, securing fifth and seventh places respectively after a collision in the earlier Sprint race. Lando Norris stated that fifth on the grid reflects their true pace this weekend, noting that the MCL40 is too difficult to drive consistently at the limit without risking a crash and that they currently lag behind Red Bull, Ferrari, and Mercedes. Oscar Piastri echoed these sentiments after his car was repaired following the Sprint incident, admitting that the team lacked the necessary performance on the Marina Bay street circuit. Although Piastri will start sixth due to a grid penalty for George Russell, he acknowledged that mistakes and handling challenges hindered their ability to challenge for pole position.
