Leclerc leads Verstappen and Piastri during Miami practice

Charles Leclerc topped the timesheets in the opening practice session for the Miami Grand Prix, clocking a 1m 29.310s lap at the Miami International Autodrome. The Ferrari driver led the Red Bull of Max Verstappen and McLaren’s Oscar Piastri in a 90-minute session extended to accommodate the Sprint format and testing of new car upgrades. Mercedes faced a challenging session, with Kimi Antonelli finishing fifth after a late power unit issue prevented a final soft-tyre run, and George Russell managing sixth following early turbo and tyre-locking concerns. Meanwhile, Aston Martin’s session was delayed by power issues, and several teams tested new aerodynamic components, including revised rear wing configurations for Ferrari and Red Bull.
