Hakkinen on why Leclerc was right to re-sign with Ferrari

Two-time F1 World Champion Mika Hakkinen has expressed his support for Charles Leclerc’s decision to extend his contract with Ferrari beyond 2028. Despite Leclerc's mixed statistics with the team, Hakkinen believes that stability is crucial for a driver's success and that constantly switching teams can hinder a driver's ability to reach their full potential. While acknowledging Leclerc's loyalty to the Italian outfit, Hakkinen emphasized that Formula 1 is ultimately a ruthless business where drivers must remain calculated and selfish to achieve their goals. Although Hakkinen, a McLaren ambassador, remained diplomatic about Leclerc’s chances of winning a title with Ferrari, he praised the Monegasque driver's character and expressed his personal wish for him to eventually become a World Champion.
