Victor Martins to make F1 weekend debut as Williams confirm F2 racer for FP1 in Barcelona

Williams has announced that Victor Martins, a promising talent from their Driver Academy, will make his Formula 1 race weekend debut at the upcoming Spanish Grand Prix. Martins is set to take the wheel of the FW47 during Free Practice 1, marking a significant step in his burgeoning career. Currently in his third Formula 2 season, Martins has already showcased his potential with a podium finish in Saudi Arabia and a pole position in Melbourne. His impressive resume also includes a hard-fought Formula 3 title in 2022 and five F2 podiums in 2024, including a victory in Barcelona. Prior to this debut, Martins diligently prepared by participating in the TPC (Testing of Previous Cars) programme in Monza, driving the FW45. This FP1 appearance is the second of four mandated young driver sessions for Williams this season, following Luke Browning's outing in Bahrain, underscoring Williams's commitment to nurturing young talent.
