Ricciardo ‘grateful’ Red Bull made F1 exit decision for him

Daniel Ricciardo has opened up about the end of his F1 career, expressing gratitude that Red Bull made the difficult decision to replace him with Liam Lawson following the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix. The Australian driver acknowledged that while he initially struggled to accept his departure, he eventually found peace with the decision, admitting that he felt the physical and mental exhaustion of his recent seasons. Reflecting on his journey—from his time at Toro Rosso and Red Bull to his stints at Renault, McLaren, and finally his return to the Red Bull family—Ricciardo noted that he recognized his performance was not at the required level compared to younger drivers. Now serving as a Global Ambassador for Ford Racing, Ricciardo stated he is content with his career, which included eight Grand Prix victories, and is moving forward after finding closure.
