Russell denies Antonelli pole for Canadian GP with last-gasp effort

Mercedes secured a front-row lockout for the Canadian Grand Prix, with George Russell taking pole position ahead of team-mate Kimi Antonelli. Russell snatched the top spot in the final moments of qualifying with a lap of 1m 12.578s, edging out Antonelli by 0.068s. The McLaren pair of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri follow in second row, while Lewis Hamilton lines up fifth after a mistake in his final run. Max Verstappen will start sixth for Red Bull, leading team-mate Isack Hadjar. Further down the grid, Nico Hulkenberg narrowly missed Q3, qualifying in 11th place. The back of the pack includes Sergio Perez, who is under investigation for a blocking incident, as well as Lance Stroll and Valtteri Bottas.
