Mercedes experienced mixed fortunes during the final practice session ahead of the Australian Grand Prix. George Russell impressive performance saw him top the timesheets with a 1m 19.053s lap, significantly faster than his rivals, including Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc. However, his teammate Andrea Kimi Antonelli dramatically crashed out late in the session, causing substantial work for his mechanics before qualifying. The session also saw issues for Williams drivers Carlos Sainz and Alexander Albon, alongside numerous lock-ups and slides as teams pushed their new machines to the limit.
