Antonelli beats Russell for maiden F1 victory in China

Kimi Antonelli secured a historic maiden Formula 1 victory at the Chinese Grand Prix, becoming the second youngest winner in the sport's history. After starting from pole position, the 19-year-old Mercedes driver led most of the race, successfully defending his position against teammate George Russell, who finished 5.5 seconds behind. Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton claimed his first podium for the Scuderia, winning a tight tactical battle against teammate Charles Leclerc. The race saw significant drama throughout the field, with Max Verstappen retiring late due to mechanical issues and both McLaren drivers failing to start the race. Ollie Bearman impressed for Haas in fifth, while Alpine’s Pierre Gasly and the Racing Bulls duo of Liam Lawson and Isack Hadjar also secured points. The event was marred by multiple retirements, including the Aston Martin pair of Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll, the latter of whom triggered the only Safety Car period of the race.
