Max Verstappen secured pole position for the United States Grand Prix in a thrilling qualifying session, despite failing to set a second flying lap in Q3. The Red Bull driver's initial effort of 1m 32.510s proved insurmountable, fending off a strong challenge from McLaren's Lando Norris, who finished 0.291 seconds adrift.
