Russell charges to Baku pole as Antonelli exits Qualifying early

George Russell secured a commanding pole position for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, clocking a 1m 42.526s lap in a highly competitive qualifying session. Despite his Mercedes teammate Kimi Antonelli crashing out in Q1, Russell improved consistently throughout the session to finish eight tenths ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc. Oscar Piastri claimed third place, narrowly edging out Red Bull’s Isack Hadjar and McLaren’s Lando Norris. Further down the order, both Audi drivers and the Aston Martin pair faced significant struggles, with the latter relegated to the back of the grid due to power unit penalties, effectively moving Cadillac’s Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas up the starting order.
