Stella singles out ‘smart’ design trend from McLaren rival
McLaren team principal Andrea Stella has highlighted the unique sidepod design introduced by Red Bull at the Miami Grand Prix, noting that the sport is currently in an innovative phase of car development. Stella observed that Red Bull's concept differs significantly from those utilized by Mercedes and Ferrari, and suggested that while teams will eventually converge on a similar design, they are currently in a period of experimentation and benchmarking.
Following a successful weekend in Miami, where Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri secured strong podium finishes, Stella emphasized that McLaren’s recent upgrades have been vital in their performance jump. He praised the ingenuity of Red Bull's design, acknowledging that rivals are likely analyzing the RB22's aerodynamic innovations to better understand the stability benefits provided by the new configuration.
