BMW achieved a milestone victory at the 6 Hours of São Paulo, with the #15 M Hybrid V8 Hypercar securing its first-ever FIA WEC win. Drivers Kevin Magnussen, Raffaele Marciello, and Dries Vanthoor executed a brilliant strategy, overcoming pressure from Ferrari and Cadillac throughout the race. Vanthoor, who drove the final stints despite feeling physically unwell, successfully maintained his lead to take the chequered flag.
Following aerodynamic upgrades earlier this season, BMW has emerged as a serious title contender, currently trailing Toyota by only five points in the Manufacturers’ standings. The #20 car also put in a resilient performance, with René Rast and Robin Frijns fighting back from 16th on the grid to finish eighth, keeping them locked in a close battle for the Drivers’ championship. Team principals highlighted the flawless teamwork and consistent development of the car as the primary catalysts for their successful campaign in Brazil.
