‘Execution and optimisation’ cost McLaren Miami win – Stella
McLaren showcased a significant performance leap at the Miami Grand Prix, with Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri delivering podium finishes in both the Sprint and the main race. Team Principal Andrea Stella credited a major upgrade package for the team's resurgence, allowing them to compete at the front once again.
Despite the successful weekend, Stella admitted that McLaren missed an opportunity to secure a victory due to pit stop execution and strategy. He noted that while Mercedes maintained a slight pace advantage of a few tenths, McLaren’s superior tyre management kept them in the hunt. Looking ahead, the team remains optimistic as further planned upgrades aim to build on this momentum.
