Mercedes provide update on Russell’s Q3 stoppage in Hungary

Mercedes has confirmed that George Russell will change his power unit following a water pressure issue during the Hungarian Grand Prix qualifying session. Russell, who finished seventh, reported that a water leak sprayed his tires during his final Q3 lap, significantly hindering his performance and grip. After an inspection, the team decided to replace the power unit with one of the same specification, avoiding any grid penalties. While Russell struggled with tire warm-up throughout the session, he remains optimistic about the car's race pace. Following the FIA’s decision to penalize team mate Kimi Antonelli three places for a yellow flag breach in Q3, Russell will move up one position on the starting grid for the race.
