Norris 'believes I deserved' Spanish GP victory

Lando Norris expressed his disappointment after the Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid, where he finished third despite feeling he had the pace to win. The McLaren driver dominated the early stages after starting on pole, but an unfortunately timed Virtual Safety Car during a Lance Stroll incident allowed Kimi Antonelli and Max Verstappen to make cost-effective pit stops, pushing Norris down to fifth. Norris admitted the result felt "crappy" despite his strong performance, noting that while the VSC rules are part of racing, they worked against him this time. He emphasized that he drove a perfect weekend and felt the team had the best car on race day, highlighting that McLaren has found significant improvements in race pace throughout the season. Looking ahead, while the championship gap to Antonelli has widened to 106 points, Norris remains focused on the positives. He identified the need for better qualifying performances, acknowledging that while their race-day management and tyre preservation are currently top-tier, the team must still optimize their one-lap speed to consistently contend for titles.
