Piastri evaluates ‘intense’ battle with Norris in Austria
Oscar Piastri secured a hard-fought second place at the Austrian Grand Prix, engaging in an intense, race-long battle with McLaren teammate Lando Norris. Despite relentless pressure and briefly leading on Lap 11, Piastri ultimately couldn't find a way past the eventual winner.
The duel, described by Piastri as "intense" and "pretty hard work," saw close calls, including a near-contact lock-up. A slow pit stop further complicated Piastri's efforts to reclaim the lead, as he emerged six seconds behind Norris and later contended with backmarkers. While frustrated by a yellow flag in qualifying and unable to clinch victory, Piastri expressed satisfaction with the team's impressive pace and the fierce, clean racing between the two McLarens.
