Ocon hoping Haas can ‘get back where we belong’ in Canada as Bearman admits Spain ‘exposed a few weaknesses’
Haas drivers Esteban Ocon and Ollie Bearman are eager to rebound at the upcoming Canadian Grand Prix after a challenging Spanish Grand Prix saw them finish 16th and 17th, respectively. The team experienced mixed fortunes during the recent triple-header, highlighted by Ocon's impressive seventh-place finish in Monaco. However, Barcelona proved difficult, with Ocon's strategy to stay out on older medium tires during a late Safety Car period costing him positions at the restart.
"We tried to stay on the used tyres on the last Safety Car – we were going to go at the back of the grid so it was not really worth it," Ocon reflected, expressing hope for a stronger performance at the street circuit in Montreal, similar to their success in Monaco. Bearman, meanwhile, faced his own struggles, including a 10-second time penalty for leaving the track and gaining an advantage. Despite the setback, Bearman noted some progress with the car's feeling in long runs but acknowledged that the high temperatures in Barcelona exposed weaknesses in their race pace. Both drivers are now looking forward to Canada, aiming to analyze their Spanish performance and return to competitive form.
