Horner vows to give Tsunoda time at Red Bull after 'flashes of performance'
Christian Horner has affirmed Red Bull's commitment to supporting Yuki Tsunoda, emphasizing the team will provide "time and support" to boost the Japanese driver's confidence in the car. Horner believes Tsunoda has shown "flashes of performance" and is capable of delivering consistent results.
Tsunoda was promoted to Red Bull from Racing Bulls early in the season, swapping seats with Liam Lawson. While he has scored points in three of his seven Grands Prix, he has struggled to match Max Verstappen's pace, notably failing to reach Q3 in Monaco and Spain.
Currently, Tsunoda sits 15th in the Drivers' Championship with 10 points, a stark contrast to Verstappen's 134 points, highlighting the performance gap within the team. Horner acknowledged that building confidence is key for Tsunoda and that the team's focus is on optimizing his car setup.
Despite ongoing speculation about future driver options, including Isack Hadjar, Horner stated that Red Bull is in no rush to make decisions regarding Tsunoda's long-term position. He reiterated that Tsunoda is still settling in and has shown promising moments, indicating the team will observe his progress carefully.
