Alonso rues ‘very wrong’ strategy calls at Silverstone
Aston Martin secured their first double points finish of the year at the British Grand Prix, yet it was a race of contrasting emotions for their drivers. Fernando Alonso expressed significant frustration, calling it a “disappointing race” after finishing P9 from a P7 start, lamenting what he perceived as poor strategy calls. He struggled with an early medium tire switch on a drying track.
In contrast, Lance Stroll delivered a strong performance, climbing from P17 to P7 and briefly running third. Stroll credited good strategy, including a timely soft tire change. However, he also faced late-race tyre degradation, preventing a higher finish. Despite the mixed feelings, both drivers managed to bring home valuable points for the team.
