‘I made a mistake’ – Bortoleto explains exit from British GP

Gabriel Bortoleto's British Grand Prix ended prematurely after a strategic gamble on slick tyres backfired. The Kick Sauber driver, starting on intermediates, opted for mediums at the end of the formation lap, believing the track would dry quickly. However, he spun off due to low grip on Lap 1, damaging his front wing and causing a Virtual Safety Car. Bortoleto admitted it was "a mistake," highlighting the difficulty of assessing conditions. Despite his own disappointment, he expressed immense joy for teammate Nico Hulkenberg, who secured Kick Sauber's long-awaited debut F1 podium with a P3 finish, praising Hulkenberg as his most talented and hard-working teammate. This result propelled Kick Sauber to sixth in the Teams' Championship.
