Mekies names 'important area' to work on for Red Bull
Red Bull is facing a challenging start to the season after a difficult Japanese Grand Prix, where Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar finished in eighth and twelfth place respectively. Team Principal Laurent Mekies acknowledged that the team is currently trailing front-runners like Mercedes, McLaren, and Ferrari, with the car currently appearing to be the fourth or fifth fastest on the grid.
Despite these struggles, Mekies remains optimistic, emphasizing the value of the data collected from both cars finishing the race. The team is now focused on addressing various performance limitations, including reliability concerns with their new Red Bull Ford power unit. With a break in the calendar, Red Bull plans to utilize simulator work and factory resources in Milton Keynes to identify improvements ahead of the Miami Grand Prix.
