Red Bull 'sincerely regret' abuse faced by Antonelli
Red Bull has issued an apology for "clearly incorrect" comments made during and after the Qatar Grand Prix, which falsely suggested Mercedes rookie Kimi Antonelli deliberately let title contender Lando Norris pass. The remarks, initially made by Max Verstappen's race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase, led to significant online abuse directed at Antonelli. Red Bull's statement clarified that replay footage showed Antonelli momentarily lost control of his car, enabling Norris's overtake, rather than a deliberate move. Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff vehemently denied the initial claims, calling them "nonsense" and expressing frustration over the incident and the subsequent abuse towards his driver. The apology aims to rectify the misunderstanding and condemn the online harassment.
