Verstappen reflects on ‘very difficult’ British GP
Max Verstappen endured a challenging British Grand Prix, describing his recovery to fifth place as a "very difficult race" with "no pace." Starting from pole, the Red Bull driver briefly led before being overtaken by Oscar Piastri. His afternoon took a turn for the worse after a spin following the second Safety Car restart, dropping him significantly down the order.
Despite his strong qualifying, Verstappen admitted his car struggled in both wet conditions – due to a low downforce rear wing – and later on slick tyres. He acknowledged Red Bull was "no match" for the dominant McLarens, whose Lando Norris claimed victory ahead of Piastri. Verstappen now aims to treat each remaining race as a "one-off," focusing on maximizing points in a season where championship contention is no longer his focus.
