Wheatley ‘proud’ of Audi’s progress across pre-season testing
Audi's preparations for their F1 debut have intensified, with team boss Jonathan Wheatley expressing pride in the operation's progress. Taking over the Kick Sauber squad, Audi is developing its own power unit for the 2026 regulations. Following an initial Barcelona shakedown, the team had a highly productive pre-season test in Bahrain, where Nico Hülkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto completed numerous laps. Wheatley highlighted the improved cohesion between the chassis and powertrain groups, despite a short winter, noting the team's operational efficiency in the garage and communication has significantly advanced. Audi was also among the few teams to bring a visible aerodynamic upgrade package to Bahrain, signaling their ambition, boldness, and creativity as they embark on their maiden F1 season.
