Wolff thinks Ferrari might ‘run out’ of update spending

Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff has expressed concerns that Ferrari’s aggressive development strategy for their 2026 challenger may soon hit the constraints of the cost cap. While Ferrari has consistently brought updates to close the performance gap to Mercedes, Wolff believes their current pace of development is financially unsustainable compared to other teams. Wolff highlighted that Mercedes, Red Bull, and McLaren are pacing their upgrade programs more conservatively to manage their budgets throughout the season. Despite this, he acknowledged the threat posed by Max Verstappen, who narrowly missed out on victory in Austria, noting that the four-time champion's ability to extract maximum performance remains a significant factor in the championship battle.
