Formula 2 and Formula 3 unveil their 2026 calendars
Formula 2 and Formula 3 have unveiled their 2026 calendars, continuing their vital role in supporting Formula 1. F2 is set for 14 rounds, while F3 will participate in 10 events, both championships kicking off their campaigns alongside F1 in Melbourne, Australia, from March 6-8. The season then moves to Bahrain before F2 heads to Jeddah for its first back-to-back.
F3 rejoins the action in Europe, beginning with Monaco, followed by Barcelona. The European leg continues with races in Austria, Silverstone, Spa-Francorchamps, and Budapest, setting a busy pace before the summer break. Post-break, Monza hosts F2's tenth and F3's ninth rounds. A significant addition to the calendar is the maiden trip to Madrid, Spain, from September 11-13, which will mark F3's final round of the season. F2's championship quest continues with visits to Baku, Azerbaijan, and Lusail, Qatar, before concluding its 14-round season in Abu Dhabi from December 4-6.
Formula 1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali highlighted F2's critical role in the sport's pyramid system, noting four F2 drivers graduated to F1 this year. FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem praised F2 as a "vital platform" for driver development, emphasizing the competitive and globally diverse nature of the 14-round series, including the exciting Madrid debut. FIA Formula 2 CEO Bruno Michel reiterated that racing on F1 tracks is key to F2's function as the "ultimate preparation" for Formula 1, while also confirming the calendar was designed with cost efficiency in mind.
