Red Bull Junior Arvid Lindblad has Super Licence approved

The FIA World Motor Sport Council has granted a Super Licence to 17-year-old Red Bull Junior driver Arvid Lindblad, making him eligible to compete in F1 race weekends prior to his 18th birthday. This decision follows a recent amendment to the FIA International Sporting Code, which allows for Super Licences to be issued to 17-year-olds who have demonstrated “outstanding ability and maturity” in single-seater racing, removing the previous requirement for drivers to be at least 18 and hold a valid driving licence. Lindblad, currently competing in his debut Formula 2 season with Campos Racing, has made a strong impression, sitting third in the Drivers’ Championship with two victories and one pole position. His rapid ascent through the junior categories includes a fourth-place finish in his sole F3 season and a victory at the Macau F4 World Cup race in late 2023. A long-standing member of the Red Bull Junior Team since 2021, Lindblad has been praised by F1 Team Principal Christian Horner as a “very exciting young talent,” and this Super Licence approval further solidifies his path towards a potential future in Formula 1.
