FIA’s WMSC ratifies F1 regulatory changes for 2027 and 2028

The FIA World Motor Sport Council has finalized significant updates to the 2026 F1 regulations and ratified framework changes for 2027 and 2028. FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem emphasized that these ongoing adjustments, including discussions on future power unit concepts like V8 engines with sustainable fuels, aim to balance innovation, sustainability, and performance. Key changes include a move to four days of pre-season testing starting in 2027, as well as adjustments to the balance between internal combustion engines and energy recovery systems. These updates seek to refine the technical, sporting, and financial landscape of the sport to improve clarity and enforceability as the new regulatory era progresses.
