Mekies on ‘very difficult’ decision to demote Tsunoda

Red Bull Team Principal Laurent Mekies has voiced strong confidence in Yuki Tsunoda's future, despite the "very difficult" decision to demote him to a test and reserve driver role for 2026. Tsunoda, who will be replaced by Isack Hadjar in the race team, previously moved to Red Bull after Sergio Perez's exit, only to return to Racing Bulls in a seat swap. Mekies believes Tsunoda possesses the qualities for a full-time F1 return, citing his past resilience and impressive comeback performances. He emphasized that setbacks don't define a driver's career, suggesting that Tsunoda's talent will eventually secure him another grid spot.
