Mercedes reveal exact cause of Russell’s Canada DNF

Despite Russell leading early in the race and his teammate Kimi Antonelli ultimately taking the win, the team expressed deep disappointment over the reliability issue that cut Russell's race short. Allison explained that the power unit suffered an 'engine kill' triggered by internal damage to the battery around a third of the way through the event. While the team plans to investigate the root cause of the heat damage, the DNF has widened the championship gap between Russell and his teammate Antonelli to 43 points.
