George Russell led a Mercedes 1-2 in the sole practice session for the Chinese Grand Prix at the Shanghai International Circuit. Russell set a fastest time of 1m 32.741s, closely followed by his teammate Kimi Antonelli. The McLaren pair of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri secured the third and fourth spots, ahead of Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton. Oliver Bearman impressed by placing seventh for Haas, while Max Verstappen, Nico Hülkenberg, and Pierre Gasly rounded out the top ten. The session saw some mechanical setbacks, with rookie Arvid Lindblad experiencing a stoppage on track and Carlos Sainz dealing with a data-related delay.
