Antonelli leads Russell in disrupted Canadian GP practice

Mercedes dominated the sole practice session for the Canadian Grand Prix, with Kimi Antonelli leading team-mate George Russell and Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton as the team showcased a significant new upgrade package. The session proved chaotic at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, interrupted by three red flags due to mechanical failures for Liam Lawson and Franco Colapinto, and a collision involving Alex Albon. Following the red flag periods, Mercedes continued to set the pace on the hard compound tyres before switching to softs late in the session. While Antonelli secured the top spot with a 1m 13.402s lap, his team-mate Russell encountered minor issues, including a spin at Turn 2. The session concluded with Esteban Ocon crashing his Haas, leaving teams with limited data ahead of Sprint Qualifying.
