Bortoleto handed five-place grid penalty for Las Vegas GP crash
Gabriel Bortoleto has been handed a five-place grid penalty for the Qatar Grand Prix and two penalty points after being deemed at fault for a collision with Lance Stroll on the opening lap of the Las Vegas Grand Prix. The Kick Sauber driver, starting P18, braked "extremely late" into Turn 1, colliding with Stroll and forcing both into retirement. Bortoleto admitted misjudging his braking point and grip. The stewards imposed the grid penalty in lieu of a 10-second race penalty, which could not be served due to his retirement, underscoring the incident as his fault.
