Lewis Hamilton demonstrated his mastery of Silverstone by topping the opening Free Practice session for the British Grand Prix. The Ferrari driver, a nine-time winner at this circuit, posted a 1m 26.892s lap, narrowly beating McLaren’s Lando Norris by just 0.023s. Teammate Oscar Piastri secured third, with Charles Leclerc making it two Ferraris in the top four. Despite high-speed spins for Pierre Gasly and Gabriel Bortoleto at Copse, the session remained uninterrupted. Young Briton Arvid Lindblad also made a notable FP1 debut for Red Bull, finishing just half a second behind reigning World Champion Max Verstappen.
