Charles Leclerc kicked off the Mexico City Grand Prix weekend by topping the Free Practice 1 session, demonstrating strong pace. The Ferrari driver posted a time of 1m 18.380s, finishing 0.107s ahead of Mercedes' Andrea Kimi Antonelli, who impressed in second place. This session was notable for featuring a significant number of rookie drivers, with nine out of ten teams giving their junior talent a run-out. Only Kick Sauber maintained their regular line-up, where Nico Hülkenberg secured a strong third position. Arvid Lindblad, driving Max Verstappen's Red Bull, emerged as the fastest rookie, placing sixth overall.
