Proposals agreed for further evolutionary regulation changes

F1 stakeholders, including the FIA, team principals, and power unit manufacturers, have reached an agreement in principle on evolutionary changes for the 2026 and 2027 technical regulations. Recent refinements introduced at the Miami Grand Prix regarding safety and power harvesting were reviewed positively, with no material safety issues identified. Further adjustments, particularly for wet-weather safety and start procedures, are currently being evaluated for future events. Looking toward 2027, the proposed framework aims to make competition safer and more intuitive. Key technical shifts include a planned ~50kW increase in Internal Combustion Engine power, complemented by higher fuel flow and a corresponding ~50kW reduction in Energy Recovery System deployment. These proposals will undergo further technical refinement before being submitted to the World Motor Sport Council for a formal vote.
