Lewis Hamilton led a Ferrari 1-2 in Free Practice 1 at Monza, delighting the Tifosi at their home Italian Grand Prix. Hamilton posted a 1m 20.117s lap, 0.169s quicker than teammate Charles Leclerc. Williams' Carlos Sainz impressed with P3, ahead of Max Verstappen (Red Bull) and local driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes). The session saw a red flag for gravel and a Virtual Safety Car for George Russell's (Mercedes) stoppage. Rookie drivers Paul Aron (Alpine, in for Franco Colapinto) and Alex Dunne (McLaren, in for Oscar Piastri) also participated, with Aron spinning early on. FP2 is set for later, with qualifying and the race over the weekend.
