Piastri explains ‘unfortunate’ Sao Paulo Sprint crash
Oscar Piastri's Sao Paulo Grand Prix Sprint ended prematurely on Lap 6 after a "silly mistake" saw him crash out at Turn 3. The McLaren driver attributed the incident to taking too much kerb on a damp track. The red flags were deployed following his crash, which was soon followed by similar incidents for Nico Hulkenberg and Franco Colapinto at the same corner, with Colapinto also retiring. Piastri's teammate, Lando Norris, capitalized on the restart to win the Sprint, extending his championship lead over Piastri to nine points. Piastri expressed disappointment but vowed to focus on qualifying for the main race to secure a better starting position and recover crucial points.
