The next Ferrari protege Haas couldn’t turn down

Haas has selected Rafael Camara to join the team for the 2027 Formula 1 season, beating out other contenders like Leonardo Fornaroli and Jack Doohan. Team Principal Ayao Komatsu emphasized that the team was searching for raw speed combined with a strong team-first mentality. Camara, a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy since 2022, has showcased exceptional pace by securing numerous pole positions in FIA F3 and F2. His maturity, technical feedback quality, and self-belief have drawn high praise from both Ferrari's Jerome D'Ambrosio and his junior series team principals. Having secured consecutive junior titles including the Formula Regional and FIA Formula 3 championships, Camara is currently leading the Formula 2 standings. He aims to become the first driver since Oscar Piastri to win three consecutive junior titles right before stepping up to Formula 1.
