Russell ‘reminded myself I can do it’ with Austrian GP win
George Russell claimed a dominant victory at the Austrian Grand Prix, his first since the 2026 season opener, after successfully converting pole position into a win. Russell managed the race effectively, holding off a late charge from Red Bull's Max Verstappen to secure the top step of the podium.
Following this result, Russell closed the gap to his Mercedes teammate Kimi Antonelli, who finished third, to 40 points in the Drivers' Championship. Russell credited his team for their hard work through a challenging period and expressed confidence heading into his home race at Silverstone.
