‘Thankfully I’m okay’ – Bottas reacts to Mexico City crash
Valtteri Bottas has spoken out following his heavy crash at the Mexico City Grand Prix, expressing gratitude to the medical team and FIA safety standards after walking away uninjured from a Lap 46 accident at Turn 1.
Starting from the back due to power unit penalties, Bottas was running 17th when a suspected front-left suspension failure sent him backwards into the barriers at high speed. Cadillac team principal Marcin Budkowski confirmed that the team will fully investigate the technical issue, echoing concerns following a similar failure earlier in the season for teammate Sergio Perez.
Despite the disappointing end to his race, Bottas passed on his congratulations to his former Mercedes colleague Kimi Antonelli for his stellar performance and maturity this season.
